A Closer Look::..

Jonah has been collecting abandoned bald-faced hornet (Dolichovespula) nests on and around his property in Willits, CA since 2005 (image below left). He carefully deconstructs the nests by peeling away the wasp-made paper envelope from the internal combs, then cuts it into various-sized squares and rectangles (image middle). He then adheres each piece (up and around 3,000) to a wood canvas to create beautiful, painting-like artwork (image below right).
